Water Park Near Marathahalli: Water World, 15 km Away

Water World at Fun World is about 15 km from Marathahalli, a 45 to 75 minute drive along Old Airport Road to Palace Grounds. It's open from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a wave pool, a lazy river, multi-lane slides and around 45 water attractions. One ticket, ₹999 online for an adult, also covers all the Fun World rides until 7 PM.

Summer on the Outer Ring Road is dust, heat and traffic. When you want a day in the water instead, Water World at Fun World is about 15 km from Marathahalli, straight in along Old Airport Road to Palace Grounds.

It's a common plan for groups of friends and flatmates in Munnekollal, Kundalahalli and Doddanekundi. It's cheap, it's inside the city, and the FUN5 code brings five adults in for ₹2,297.

The slides, pools and rides at Water World

Water World is the water park half of Fun World, with around 45 water attractions on the same 24-acre site. The big ones are the Tsunami, which has the park's longest queue at about 45 minutes at busy times, and the Shark Ride. Around them are multi-lane slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and splash pools for younger children.

Trained lifeguards are on duty at every water attraction. There's cabana seating for anyone who'd rather watch, and live music and DJ sets on some days.

Timing it from Marathahalli: the pools close at 4:30 PM

Water World is open from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM every day, while the dry rides run until 7 PM. That 4:30 closing is the single biggest reason visitors feel short-changed, so work backwards from it. From Marathahalli, leave by 9:15 AM to be at the gate for opening.

From Marathahalli, carry your own nylon swimwear. It's sold on site, but buying five sets for a group adds up quickly. Anything that isn't nylon, including cotton shorts, won't be allowed on the slides.

Handling the midday sun

An Outer Ring Road summer is fierce, and a water park at noon can be fierce too. The pools keep you cool, but the walks between them and the queues on the slide stairs don't.

What helps: arrive at 10:30 and do the big slides first, before the sun is overhead. Take a proper break between 1 and 2, when the cabana seating and food courts offer shade. The usual drive is along Old Airport Road through Domlur, then Ulsoor and Cantonment to Jayamahal Road: 45 minutes early on a weekend, up to 75 in the afternoon. For the metro, get to a Purple Line station on Whitefield Main Road by auto, ride to Cubbon Park without changing, and take another auto for the last 3.4 km.

What to bring, and what you can't wear

Two things trip people up at the gate. First, swimwear must be 100% nylon. Cotton T-shirts, sarees, churidars, pyjamas and burkhas aren't allowed on the slides. Second, the locker deposit is ₹500 in cash only. The locker itself is free and you get the money back, but UPI won't work.

Beyond that, pack a towel and dry clothes, sunscreen, and lunch if you want to save money, since outside food is allowed. Changing rooms get busiest between 11:30 and 1, so arriving at opening helps.

Water World with kids

A child's ticket covers anyone between 80 cm and 140 cm, and children under 80 cm go free. Height matters inside too. Some slides need 122 cm (48 inches) or more, and each ride posts its own limit at the queue, so check before a younger child gets their hopes up. The splash pools, the lazy river and the toddler zone have no such worry.
